FIFA rules apply except as modified below:

Law 2:  Size 4 Ball

 

Law 3:  Number of Players

·          6 per side, including Keeper.  (5v5 allowed if not enough players) Never play more than 6v6.

·          5 players required to start game

·          If one team has many more players, they may lend players to the other team.  Rotate these players every quarter.

·          Players play for either team "A" or team "B", not both.

 

Law 5:  Referee

·          A Junior Referee will be assigned to each game.  Each one is to be paid in cash BEFORE play begins. Jr. Referees have been instructed but are learning to referee.  Do not yell at the referee.  Calls will be missed.

·          May explain an infraction of the rules to the offending player without undue delay of game

·          If player continues to use incorrect skill, allow play to continue but advise that error is being overlooked for the good of the game.

 

Law 7:  Duration of Game

·         Teams will play four 12 minute quarters with 2 minutes between quarters, and 5 minutes between halves.  Each team is allowed 1 time out per half.  Time outs shall last 2 minutes.  Games may be cut short to maintain schedule.

·         Teams will play two games simultaneously.  Each game will consist of an equal number of players -- 6v6 or 5v5, attendance permitting.  A team may borrow a player from the opposing team in order to allow players the maximum playing time.  At the end of each half, the teams should switch opponents, ie.,   "1A" vs "2A", "1B" vs "2B" in the first half, and "1A" vs "2B", "1B" vs "2A" in the second half. (Team A holds their field, and Team B rotates fields)

·         All players must play at least 3 quarters of the game.  Rotate positions in order to give all players experience in all positions.

·         Substitution at the end of a quarter, after a goal, on own throw in, goal kick, and in case of injury.

 

Law 11:  No Offsides, and no cherry-picking

 

Law 12:  Fouls and Misconduct

·          Normal FIFA fouls

·          Additionally, a "foul" is any play which could possibly result in injury.  No slide tackles are permitted.

·          Referee should explain all infractions to offending player

 

Law 13:  Free Kicks

·          All Kicks are INDIRECT

 

Law 14:  No Penalty Kicks

 

Law 15:  Throw Ins

·          One rethrow is allowed on bad throw in (explain fault before rethrow)

 

Law 16:  Goal Kick

·          Goal Kicks from 6 yard line

·          Opponents must be 6 yards away from the ball

·          Ball must travel out of the goal box before it is touched.

·          Goalies may go anywhere in the goal box.

 

Law 18:  Common Sense

·          Opponents and their supporters take opposite sides of the field

·          No parents or coaches behind the Goals or on the field during play.

·          Players must wear shinguards covered by socks. No watches, jewelry, necklaces or earrings may be worn.

·          Keep all instruction and comments POSITIVE.

·         Coaches are responsible for the parents and non-playing team members
