Rules of
Play

apply except as modified below:

2: Size 4
Ball

3: Number of
Players
·
8 per
side, including
Keeper. (7v7 allowed if not enough
players) Never play more than 8v8.
·
If one team
has fewer than 8 players, opponent should field same number plus
one.
·
5 players
required to start game

5:
Referee
·
A Junior Referee will be assigned to each
game. Each one is to be paid in cash BEFORE play begins.
·
May explain
an infraction of the rules to the offending player without undue delay of
game
·
Jr. referees
will need the full support of every coach.
Calls will be missed.
Offsides is the toughest rule to officiate for young referees. Do not
yell at the referees. TEYSA has
a zero tolerance policy on this.
Law
7: Duration of
Game
·
Teams will
play four 12 minute quarters with 2
minutes between quarters and 5 minutes at half time.
·
Change sides
at half time.
·
All players
must play at least 3 quarters of the game. Rotate positions in order to give all
players experience in all positions. A player can only play goalie for a maximum
of two quarters.
·
Substitution at the end
of a quarter, after a goal, on own throw in, goal kick, and in case of
injury

Additionally,
a "foul" is any play which could possibly result in injury. No slide tackles are
permitted.

kicks will be awarded for
intentional fouls inside the goal box.

is allowed on bad throw in (explain fault before rethrow)

Kick
·
Goal Kicks
from 6 yard line

Opponents
must be outside the box.
·
Ball must
travel out of the goal box before it is touched.
·
Goalies may
go anywhere in the goal box.

18: Common
Sense
·
Opponents
and their supporters take opposite sides of the field. First team to arrive gets
choice of side.
·
No parents
or coaches behind the Goals
·
Players must
wear shinguards covered by socks. No watches, jewelry, or earrings may be
worn.
·
Keep all
instruction and comments POSITIVE.
·
Coaches are
responsible for the parents and non-playing team
members
·
Player or
Coach receiving RED card is disqualified from the game and ineligible for
the next game. Any parent receiving
a RED card is ineligible to attend the next two games.
